Healthy Schools

Can we please re-iterate that the School does operate a healthy snack policy which has recently begun to slip.  Can we please remind Parents / Carers that acceptable snacks are fruit, vegetable or cheese during morning break for pupils in the Juniors.  Can we ask that Parents / Carers support us by not providing crisps, chocolate, doughnuts etc. for snack during morning break.  Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Children are allowed to drink water during lesson times but we would ask that Parents / Carers do not provide fizzy drinks and / or fruit cordials for their children.

World Book Day

We are celebrating World Book Day – Thursday 5th March 2015 and invite all children to come to school dressed as a book character.  During the day the children will be taking part in World Book Day activities.  We ask for a £1 donation which will be used to purchase new library / classroom reading area books.

All children will be given a World Book Day token on Thursday which they can exchange at many book retailers as well as at the Pontyclun Book Fair at the Athletic Club, Saturday 7th March 2015, 10am – 3pm.

St David’s Day Eisteddfod

We will be celebrating St David’s Day with our school Eisteddfod on Monday 2nd March 2015.  Children may come in traditional costumes should they so wish.  Please would parents / carers ensure that if your child wishes to wear a Welsh rugby / footbal shirt, that they wear school trousers as usual NOT JEANS.  Thank you for your anticipated support in this matter.

If parents / carers would like to view the winning creative and writing entries, these will be displayed for viewing in the main hall after school on Monday 2nd March 2015.

Dance Competition

Congratulations to Pontyclun Primary’s Dance Club who were the Taff Feel the Beat Champions at the recent competition.  We are extremely proud of their efforts and thrilled that as a result of their success they will be dancing at the re-opening of the Pontypridd Lido as well as representing RCT at future festivals and events.

Comic Relief

The school will be supporting Comic Relief on Friday 13th March 2015.  Children are invited to dress up / paint their faces as per the theme of Comic Relief or just wear non-school uniform.  We would ask that pupils donate £1 towards the charity.  Year 6 will be organising and running their usual stalls.  All children will be given an opportunity to visit the stalls during the afternoon and participate in the fun, the morning will be given over to Comic Relief related activities.
