Dear Parents,

Infants reading evening.
We will be holding a parents open evening on Thursday January 29th at 6pm in the main hall. The purpose of the evening is to introduce to parents the new Jolly Phonics scheme we are using, and to discuss how you can help your child with their reading at home.

PE Kit
There are a large number of children who regularly do not bring PE or games kits to school. It is part of our policy in lines with the BALPEE health and safety document for PE, that children must change fully for games and PE lessons. Please ensure your child has the correct shorts, T-shirts and footwear for these lessons. Bermuda, denim and cut-offs are not appropriate. When the weather is cold or wet then please ensure your child has a tracksuit or similar to wear. If PE kit is not provided, the school will provide one from items unclaimed in the lost property box.

Year 6 residential to Kingswood
We are planning to take the children in year 6 to Kingswood in Staffordshire for an activity break as part of their transistion work with Y Pant. The idea is that all the different year 6 children from local schools will attend. Provisional dates are 18/3/09-20/3/09. The cost of the trip will be met mainly by the schools but a voluntary contribution of approx £20.00 will be required to help with transport costs. I will send out complete details when we have received confirmation that the trip may go ahead, but please be aware of the dates if you are intending booking holidays or short breaks.

CLUN scoop a double win to take the Autumn House Cup

Although being a very close competition, both house cups for the second half of the Autumn term were won by Clun. Amazingly, the number of house points gained over the seven week period throughout the entire school was over 4000. All of us at the school are really pleased that the pupils are working so hard to gain house points. Pictured opposite are the house captains for the infants and juniors. We wait to see if they can keep the cup at the end of this half term.
