Jolly Phonics Presention for Reception Parents
Your children are now following the full 'Jolly Phonics' scheme. Jolly phonics will be further explained in a presentation on Tuesday 17th September at 6pm in the main hall. We would greatly encourage you to attend this meeting as we have found that parental support is essential to help your child make continuous progress throughout their Reception year.
From now on at the end of each week a sound pack will be sent home. We would appreciate it if you would encourage your child to begin recognising these sounds and practise correct formation. Games such as eye spy will also encourage your child to think of the sounds in relation to words. Every two weeks your child will also bring home a word list. This will contain words that can be blended from the sounds covered in school. Appropriate reading books to share with your child will be sent home weekly. We would be grateful if you would read them to your child and encourage him/her to talk about the pictures/story and point out any sounds they have covered in school. Please feel free to include comments on how your child is reading at home as this helps us to encourage and support them in school.
Many thanks and we hope to see you at this important meeting.

Mrs. Davies
The school is very sad to inform you that Mrs. Davies in Year 5 has passed away whilst on holiday. Our thoughts are with her family at this extremely difficult time. She will be greatly missed by all at Pontyclun Primary, as her contribution to the school has been immeasurable.
Your support will be greatly appreciated at this time,

Ponytclun Certainly has Got Talent...
Another school year is drawing to a close, and the children are enjoying the end of term events before looking forward to September. This is always a very busy and sad time of year at our school, we say farewell to year 6, and celebrate all that they have achieved during their time at Pontyclun Primary. This year 6 cohort have been a pleasure to teach and have been a credit to the school. We wish them all the very best as they move onto Y Pant, and we will look forward to seeing them as they "pop in" to see us all in the not too distant future.
Here we have images from Pontyclun's Got Talent and the Year 6 Leavers Concert. All staff found these events truly special. It was a pleasure to showcase the talent at our school. We are very, very proud of you all!

Dear Parents
Just a reminder – tomorrow is toy day and non-uniform day. We do not advise children to bring in expensive toys. However, if they do so, then the toy is their responsibility.
We are pleased to announce that Mrs Hutchings is now a proud mum of twins, a boy and a girl. We wish her a happy holiday with her family!
The lost property box is overflowing and tomorrow is your last chance to retrieve any items.
The PTA would like to thank all the children, grandparents and friends of the School for your wonderful support at our fundraising events this year. Our Summer Fete raised a brilliant £3,219.0 and a fantastic time was had by all in the sunshine.
Our fund raising events this year have totalled an incredible £9,143.12, which have funded the refurbishment of all school yards with equipment and activities.

Summer Term at Pontyclun Primary
Foundation Phase Activity Morning
Junior Sports Day
Pontyclun Primary School Fete 2013. What an amazing day, the PTA organised a superb fete and for once we were lucky enough to have the weather on our side. There were lots of fun activities to keep the children and adults entertained, as can be seen by the photographs. The PTA raised £3200 which is a staggering amount in just one day. Thank you to all of the PTA members and helpers for all of their efforts, thank you to the year 6 pupils who helped on the stalls and to everyone who came along to support the school. Diolch yn Fawr!!
