Huge thank you year 5 parents

A huge thanks to the year 5 parents for letting us dismiss the children smoothly. You were a huge help by not parking outside the gates, getting off the bus and dismissing the children.   This ensured the children went home quickly and safely! We have had a brilliant weekend and we think the children will sleep well tonight! We know we will! Thanks again.
Hopefully you have seen the Twitter updates, if not Just to let you know we are on our way home and should arrive at school for approx 4:30. Please try not to park near school gates and please wait until all children are off bus, collected their bags and we will dismiss them from the yard. Thanks.

New Parent Nursery Update

Dear Parents / Carers,

As you are aware the Local Authority have decided that they will fund nursery provision based on the statutory requirements of 15 hours per  week for three year olds, with full time provision being  made available for children in the term following  their fourth birthday.

We have looked hard at the budget to see if we are able to maintain a full time nursery provision but, unfortunately, there are insufficient funds to allow this to happen.

Therefore the nursery provision from September 2015 is as follows.

02nd September 2015 – 18th December 2015

Part time provision, mornings only, 9.00am – 1.10pm (pupils are eligible to stay for lunch)

04th January 2016 – 24th March 2016

1 part time class for those still three 9.00am – 1.10pm (pupils are eligible to stay for lunch)

1 afternoon class for those pupils who turned four in the autumn term 1.10pm – 3.10pm

11th April 2016 – 20th July 2016

All pupils will be offered full time provision whether they have turned four or not.

At present the school is not able to offer alternative child care facilities to pupils not aged four in the afternoon for the autumn or spring term.

If you have any questions regarding the above arrangements please do not hesitate to contact the school on 01443 237833 or e-mail me at head.pontyclunpri@rctednet.net .

I look forward to meeting you all shortly,

Yours faithfully,

Mr H Roberts

Ski update

Traffic is pretty bad at the moment and the driver has had to stop for his 45min break. New estimated time of arrival 3.45pm to 4pm.

Skiers Homeward Bound

The Skiers have had a smooth return journey and have just docked at Dover. They are expected at Penygawsi for approximately 2.15pm and then Pontyclun for 3pm.

PLEASE NOTE - these times are liable to change due to traffic as the driver must stop for 45mins after driving for 4 1/2hrs regardless of proximity to destination. Should this happen we will update accordingly.

Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Non-school uniform day

The pupils are welcome to come into school in non-school uniform for Friday 27th March as it is the last day of term.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter.

Spectacular Skiing Once Again!

❄️⛄️❄️ Skiing Madness ❄️⛄️❄️

The children have had a fabulous day today; they have had a blast! We were up at the crack of dawn to be down for breakfast and on the slopes for 9.30am! Once we met our instructors we were off; no stopping us today!

All groups have progressed very well today and each and every teacher is very impressed and proud of the efforts made by all the children. By the end of the day ever single child had skied down a particular part of the mountain which is an incredible achievement. Well done everyone, awesome job!

We have had a lovely evening meal where we sang a BIG Penblwydd Hapus to Lowri who is 11 today. It is safe to say she has had a birthday to remember!

Swimming tonight and then an early night ready for a jam packed day on the slopes tomorrow. It is sad to think it is our last night at this beautiful resort however it has been a wonderful trip and a good time has been had by all!

Take a look at today's fun; the smiles on the children's faces says it all!

We are looking forward to more skiing tomorrow. We will update before leaving tomorrow evening.

Many Thanks
Mr Williams, Mr Roberts, Miss Cooper and Miss Deaves ⛄️😄

A Successful Day Of Skiing

Today has been a great day. The children were up early for breakfast ready to be on the bus for 9.00am to be at the slopes by 9.30! The pupils enjoyed their first day on the slopes. It was a giggle to watch each other put our boots and skis on for the first time.

Once up on the slopes we met our ski instructors for the week and were put into our groups.  The children may not have been with their best mates but they didn't complain, they just got on with learning to ski. The pupils worked extremely hard and by the end of the day's session almost everyone had mastered the snow plough! Many skied down their first slope and were extremely proud of their efforts and achievements, as were the teachers.

The top group did extremely well and even managed a small session on a black run! They will be pros before we know it! It is fair to say the children have had a blast and we can not wait for tomorrow to do it all again.

This evening we have come bowling and the children are enjoying a small competition with groups before our annual roll off challenge. Will the winners be Pontyclun or Penygawsi? Only time will tell.

Take a look at today's events...

As you can see we have had a wonderful day. More to come tomorrow.  Have a good evening!

Mr Williams, Mr Roberts, Miss Cooper and Miss Deaves ;0)

Healthy Schools

Can we please re-iterate that the School does operate a healthy snack policy which has recently begun to slip.  Can we please remind Parents / Carers that acceptable snacks are fruit, vegetable or cheese during morning break for pupils in the Juniors.  Can we ask that Parents / Carers support us by not providing crisps, chocolate, doughnuts etc. for snack during morning break.  Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Children are allowed to drink water during lesson times but we would ask that Parents / Carers do not provide fizzy drinks and / or fruit cordials for their children.
