On Friday the PTA organised a fund raising Cycle, Scoot or Walk to school. It was a huge success and raised over £420 for school funds. The children all enjoyed the day and had lots of fun. The school would like to thank the children for taking part, the parents for supporting the day (we really recognise and appreciate the efforts that you went to last Friday) and our fantastic PTA for organising such a successful event. Thank you.

Country Dancing at St Fagan's
Dear Parents and Country Dancers
This is a quick reminder for your diaries to confirm that the date for the Country Dancing Festival is Saturday 23 June. We will meet that morning at the entrance to St Fagan's (time to be arranged nearer date) and the Festival will be finished by approximately 1pm. It is an event that all family and friends are encouraged to attend, with a picnic if you wish. It always proves to be a successful and enjoyable event.
If it is a wet day, an alternative venue will be planned and you will receive that information nearer the time.
We would like to say how pleased we are with the dancers' efforts and commitment over the school year so far and look forward to this event where their hard work will be rewarded along with other schools from all over South Wales.

Double Sporting Success
Here is combination of photographs from the Regional and National finals of the Urdd Football tournament 2012. We entered three teams in the regional tournament, two boys teams and one girls team. The girls lost in the final after an amazing performance. They only conceded one goal all day, unfortunately that was in the final. The boys teams came first and fourth, our best combined result ever. Pontyclun Primary School are now the Mid Glamorgan regional champions 2012. Both teams played fantastically well and represented the school admirably. Our champions then traveled to Aberystwyth on a beautifully sunny day to represent the region in the national finals. Here they played their best football of the year. After some tight matches and superb performances the boys made it to the national final. With only two teams left in the competition, the boys once again gave 100% but unfortunately it was not to be their day. Pontyclun came runners up in the All Wales competition. Well done boys the school is proud of you.
Today our Rugby Team became Taff Ely "large schools" champions. After wining the sevens competitions earlier in the year, this is the second trophy that the school has won this season. The boys also won the year 5 title in 2011, making this team champions in all competitions over the last two years.
An impressive performance today as Pontyclun beat Dolau Primary in the final 49-40. Equally impressive is their winning record over the last two years. Well done and congratulations to the entire squad, the school is very proud of you.

Late Procedures and Important Dates
Dear Parents,
Here are some dates for the term and an update.
Late procedures
Thank you all for your patience while we try out our new
procedure. As with all new systems there will be ‘teething’ problems. Our
intent is not to cause upset to the children- we want to find the most effective
way to monitor lateness. To improve the
system, the bell will ring at 9 o’clock, so that the juniors and the infants
use the same time. If you are late, please take your child to the main
reception, where there will be a member of staff who will sign in your child
for you and take them over to their individual class as soon as possible. (This applies from nursery to yr 2. Junior
pupils can be signed in by the administrative staff). This should reduce any delay
in the reception area. We ask you to drop them off instead of taking them over
to class, as this has reduced disruption to the start of the lesson. The
benefits so far have been quicker registration time, which means pupils start
their activities on time and dinner numbers are being recorded accurately. Your child will be marked as late on the class
register as before- this hasn’t changed. We realise that some mornings don’t go
according to plan and on such occasions we will understand and do everything we
can to help if there is a problem. This system means that we will be able to
monitor persistent lateness
effectively. We realise that there may be some inconvenience, and we take all
comments on board. Please be assured that we are continuing to refine the
process so that we have an accurate picture that addresses this Welsh Government
priority.
Many thanks for your continued co-operation.
